What if I have never even grown a tomato plant before?
This course is designed for the beginner to intermediate grower. We will meet each person where they are at and guide them along the growing journey. We have designed the course to start with the basics and teach people how to grow this amazing plant right from the start, regardless of previous experience. You will also have lifetime access to the course and can refer back to each lesson again and again over the years.
Isn't it easy to grow cannabis, it is a 'Weed' right?
Yes and No. Sure, growing some plants may be easy and many first time growers can have success growing cannabis. But many people need help and guidance along the way. And most people cannot produce consistent results (bountiful yields of potent medicine) year after year. There are a lot of things that you would not know about cannabis and how to maximize the growth and potential of this plant without putting in years of experience and research. This is where our decades of experience comes into play and can help you gain confidence in your growing abilities in a very short amount of time.
Isn't a lot of this information available in the internet?
Although there is a lot of information on the internet, a lot of it is not good advice and often comes from people with questionable experience. If you are new to cannabis growing it can be hard to know where to start and even harder to know who you can trust. Couple that with the amount of bad information that you will need to ‘weed’ (sorry about the pun) through and it can be overwhelming. In the CHG course, all of the information that you need is in one place and available for you to go through in a step by step fashion. It is easy to understand, clear and concise and each lesson builds on that of the previous one.
What if I am a medical patient and cannot afford the cost of this course?
We are open to arranging a payment plan option if that makes it easier for people who cannot afford the full price of the course up front. With that said, if you still cannot afford the price of the course, we will work with individuals on a case to case basis. All that we ask is that you show us proof that you have a medical prescription and we will do our best to work something out.
Will I be alone taking this course?
If you choose the ‘Basic’ course, you will be on your own to go through the video lessons and let them guide you through the growing journey. We are confident that this option will deliver quality instruction and guidance to those that are ready to work at their own pace and move through the lessons on their own. If you do not want to be on your own and would like some guidance, support and someone to ask question of, then we recommend that you register for the ‘Hands-On’ Course which has student services. This option give the student unlimited email support as well as bi-weekly zoom meetings where there will be live lectures as well as Q & A sessions. It is these live meetings where you can have all of your questions answered as well as grow and learn with a community of like minded growers. This is one of our (and our students) favorite parts about the course. Having a community of people to work through the course with and a chance to see what others are doing, how their plants are growing and collectively learn from all of our experiences.
Can I upgrade from the Basic course to the Hand-on Course?
We recommend that you register for the Hands On course to start with if possible. There may be an option to upgrade to the Hands On Course from the basic course, but we cannot guarantee this. We only have a handful of spaces and once they are gone, there will not be any more spaces available.
What about the community of Growers?
Throughout the growing season, there is a real community that forms between all of the people participating in the Hands-on course. We are meeting every two weeks online where we can see each others faces and share our experiences not only through our stories, but also through photos and videos. Everyone will have a chance each meeting to update the group on what they are experiencing and learning as well as ask questions to the group. The community of home growers and the collective experiences of the group is an invaluable asset to all participants.
For students who join the ‘Basic Course’, you will have access to the Home Growers Course ‘Student Forum’ located on the website where you can share your gardening experiences and ask questions. But please note that the instructor only moderates this forum periodically and if you are looking for quick responses to your immediate questions, your best option is to join the ‘Hand’s-On’ Course.
Where do I get seeds?
There is a lesson in the course on where to get seeds as well as what to look for when selecting the right cultivar for you as well as your bio-region.
What if I live in a town or city environment?
No problem. We have had people go through the program who lived in an urban environment and their plants did great. The course is designed to teach people how to grow cannabis outdoors and as long as you have access to some sunlight, you will be able to take what you have learned and apply it to your specific situation. Although most people choose to plant their plants directly into the ground, some people have chosen to plant theirs in pots and have them on a small porch or balcony. We would be happy to chat with you about your specific environment and help you to form a plan that will work the best for you.
What if I do not live in Ontario or Canada for that matter?
No problem. We have had people take the course from the west coast (of Canada and the US) and a few points in between. It does not matter where you live, the material will be applicable to you and you will be able to take it and apply it to your specific bio-region. From coast to coast to coast and across the ocean, we have you covered.
What about the laws in my area?
We recommend that you research what the laws are in your specific province or state in relation to growing cannabis. Many areas across North America have legalized cannabis for recreational purposes and this often comes with a plant count (the legal number of plants that you are allowed to grow). Many areas also have laws that enable people to grow cannabis for medical purposes and this could be an option for you to look into as well. It is up to you to research and follow all applicable laws in your area before growing any plants.
What is the main difference between the Basic and Hands-On Course?
The main difference is that the basic course gives you access to the course itself (video lessons and pdfs). Whereas the Hand-On course gives you access to the community of growers, a chance to ask questions via email as well as live at our bi weekly online meetings that happen twice a month. For the extra money, we encourage people to sign up for the Hands-On course and gain access to this incredible experience and community.
Why is this program offered as an online program?
We decided to offer it as an online program because this is a way that we can reach more people and also have people join us from all over Canada, the US and beyond. It also enables us to keep the price lower than if we were to run it in person. and we find that running it online is a great way to have people grow their own plants at home and then work through the lessons while also checking in with the community. We also see great value in having all the lessons online in video format for people to refer to on their phones, tablets or personal computers.
Do I have to Grow Plants while taking the course?
No, although that is a huge part of the course, you do not need to. We have had at least one person who was not ready to grow their own plants, but wanted to learn and take part in the course. So this is also an option for people who are not in a place to grow their own plants.
Why is it called a Pilot 2.0?
It is called a Pilot 2.0 course because we are still developing the course and are not ready to release it on a large scale across North America. Last year (2019), was the first time that we ran the course and it was a tremendous success (check out our testimonial video). There are still parts of the course that we are working on and a few video lessons that we have to shoot, edit and upload to the course site. After this year, we plan to finalize the video lessons, make some edits and changes to the course and have it ready to launch in a bigger way. As a pilot, we are asking for feedback from our students so that we can make the course even better. This is an exciting time to take part in the development of this course. And please know that you will have lifetime access to the material, including updates, bonus and extra content that will get added each year (future students may not have this added perk). And there is also a chance that we may need to raise the price in the future as well.

The Zoom meetings will take place every second Tuesday from April until October, alternating between 7 pm EST and 11 am EST. Please note that the Zoom meetings will be recorded and available for you to watch anytime.
